Upgrades for selected Porsche models
There is a lot of documentation and discussion regarding the intermediate shaft (IMS) on engines fitted to the Porsche 996 and the Porsche Boxster and Cayman models.
There is some vulnerability on these shafts as the bearing used can be subject to failure, often due to lack of lubrication inside the bearing, which can lead to varying degrees of engine failure.

The upgraded bearing and assembly are designed to have either a lubricated feed or there are even options that are sealed with no requirement for lubrication.
